Oyo PDP Members Protest Against Imposition Of Unpopular Candidate For May 15 LG Polls

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members in some parts of Oyo State on Friday staged peaceful protests against alleged imposition of candidates on them by few leaders of the party in the state.
The protesting PDP members stormed the Oyo state Governor’s office at the State Secretariat in Agodi Ibadan with placards expressing their dissatisfaction with the alleged imposition of candidates on them. 
Particularly, aggrieved PDP  members from Oyo East Local Government  during the protest frowned at the alleged impositionof candidates for the planned May 15 local government election in the state
The protesters who were busy chanting songs condemning the planned imposition of candidates insisted that few PDP leaders in the state were hell bent on imposing some ‘unpopular candidates’ who have already serve as caretaker Chairmen.
According to the protesters, there will be no going back on their insistence for the party conducting primary for the candidates to contest the election on the platform of the party.
The inscription on the placards displayed by the protesters reads “Oyo East LG says no to imposition”, “Oyo East PDP wants pry election please”, “LG Primary election save us from imposition in Oyo East LG Council”, “We want free and fair primary election. We want free, fair primary election”. Others placards have inscriptions such as “Oyo state PDP elders and stakeholders flashback, remember what killed PDP. They don’t wish the masses well”, “We say no to imposition of candidate”, “Don’t open door for mass defection ahead of 2023 Oyo East local government PDP warns” and “Imposition kills party, don’t use it” among others.
However, the PDP Publicity Secretary in Oyo state,  Engineer Akeem Olatunji in his reaction to the protest said there is nothing like imposition.
