Police Debunks Media Reports On Zamfara Killings, Abduction

The Zamfara State Police Command has called on the public to disregard the outrageous number of kidnapped victims being circulated on media platforms describing the reports as fake and intended to cause confusion in the state.
A statement by the Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) Zamfara Police Command, SP Mohammed  Shehu  said the reports on some media platforms which says 70 people including nursing mothers, children were kidnapped and 40 killed in Tungar Baushe in Maru local government area was not true as no one life was killed in the attack.
“The attention of Zamfara State Police Command has been drawn to the above story trending on different media platforms about the attack on Tungar Baushe in Maru LGA.
“The number quoted was misleading and attempt to create fear into the minds of Zamfara citizens. 
“The Zamfara Police Command has received information about the attack on the village which occurred on 3rd March 2021. Our combined teams of ground and aerial surveillance are on extensive bush combing of the sarrounding forests aimed at rescuing the  victims suspected to have been kidnapped. 
“Members of the public are enjoined to discountenance the reported figures and assist the security forces in the ongoing operations,” he said. 
The Zamfara State police spokesman also enjoined the people to remain calm, as they will get update you from time to time.
