Nigeria’s COVID-19 Update: 464 New Cases, Total 156,963



Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has said that the country was attacked by 464 new cases of Novel CoronaVirus disease (COVID-19) on Wednesday 3rd February 2021.
The fresh COVID-19 cases infected 21 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja as follows: Lagos 131, Kaduna 69, Akwa Ibom 33, Imo 31, Katsina 30, Kano 26, Ondo 23, Yobe 20, FCT 18, Ogun 13, Rivers 12, Kebbi 11, Ekiti 9, Osun 6, Oyo 6, Borno 5, Gombe 5, Plateau 5 Edo 4, Abia 3, Delta 3 and Zamfara 1.
In its daily account of COVID-19 pandemic infections, NCDC reported that as of the end of Wednesday, Nigeria had recorded a total of 256,963 cases of the worldwide disease since the index case was found in the country.
Out of the total, 135,831 patients who tested positive for the virus had been treated and discharged from the nation’s COVID-19 isolation centres, while the global virus had killed 1,939 people in the country to date.
COVID-19  took the lives of 16 persons in Nigeria on Wednesday.
NCDC wrote on its twitter handle that yesterday it had  229 community recoveries in Lagos State, 144 in Imo State and 45 in Akwa Ibom State.
It stated that three previously confirmed cases in Nasarawa State were omitted from the cumulative report.
