Nasarawa Assembly Wants Gov Sule To Declare State Of Emergency At Technical College Assakio

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly Commitee on Education, Science and Technology has called for declaration of state of emergency at Government Technical and Science College, Assakio- Lafia in order to create an enabling environment for learning and teaching in the institution.

The Assembly, through Honourable Daniel Oga Ogazi, the Chairman of the house Committee on education made the call when he led other members of the committee to the school, saying that the call is a matter of necessity to improve on the standard of education and to reduce youth restiveness in the state.

He said that the committee frowned at the nature of facilities in the school while appealing to the state government to give the school the much desire attention it deserves.

The lawmaker commended Gov Abdullahi Sule for prioritizing the education sector in the state and called for more attention to the technical school for the overall development of the state.

“We frown at the state of facilities in this school .The hostels are not conducive for students. The school needs adequate and urgent attention.

“This school was established to provide technical education to students in order to tackle youths restiveness, unemployment and boost the socio-economic activities of the people of the state.

“We are calling for a state of emergency in the school and we appeal for adequate funding of the school in order to create an enabling environment for learning and teaching,” he said.

Ogazi also called for the provision of necessary tools in the school to enable students acquire technical knowledge for the overall development of the state and the country at large.

He also called on the teachers to give the students their best so as to meet up with the state government mission of establishing the school.

The lawmaker restated the House continued commitment to support the state government in its quest to provide quality education in the state.
