Katagum Emir In Bauchi, Umar Gets Staff Of Office Soon

Governor Bala Mohammed has reiterated his administration’s determination to speed up the renovation of Katagum Emir’s palace to pave way for the presentation of staff of Office to the emir, Alhaji Umar Faruk 11.

The Governor assured that his government would beautify not only the palace but also Azare, headquarters of Katagum LGA to make it attractive for the would be coming celebrants across the country of the staff of office presentation which is expected to hold soon.

It would be recalled that Governor Bala Mohammed had shortly after his inauguration to office, assured the emirs of Katagum and Misau when they paid him a congratulatory visit of his resolve to hasten presentation of staff of office to them.

The two paramount leaders were appointed emirs of their respective domains sometimes midway into the first term tenure of the immediate past administration of Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar

Senator Bala Mohammed who noted that the renovation has reached 90 percent completion, said that work already done on the palace has surmounted the initial cost of the renovation awarded by the immediate past administration at N250 million.

He explained that the project cost was at the inception of his administration reviewed downwards to N160 million with an initial payment of N100 million already paid by the past government.

Mohammed disclosed that his administration has paid the balance of N60 million, but noted that work done is enormous following the emir’s input of his personal money, assuring that government would refund his personal amount expanded on the renovation project.The Governor, while noticing that the emirs has personally put in his money towards the realization of the project, said the state government would refund whichever amount the emir contributed towards the successful execution of the renovation project.
Responding, the emir of Katagum, Alhaji Umar Faruk 11 commended the governor for the execution of various laudable development projects across the state, saying “We the entire people in Katagum emirate have no problem with you”.

“We have no problem with you, you have done to us what you are supposed to do. You have put legacies all over the place. You have put up foot prints which even after your death will speak for you. May Allah reward you abundantly”.

Emir Umar Faruk 11 who expressed delight with the supervision by the governor of the development projects being executed across the state, assured the people of Katagum emirate will reciprocate the gestures being extended to them.

Faruk 11 explained that the quality of a good leader is to supervise the projects which execution are being awarded under his leadership, adding “It is very important you monitor the conduct of public and civil servants.

The emir advised the governor, “Don’t allow stories to becloud your mind, check the public, civil servants so that the best would come out of them, even we the emirs you should check our conduct, we are not a hundred percent perfect”.

He further told the governor, “If everybody you are monitoring his/her conduct, they cannot play or be reluctant with their jobs or responsibilities bestowed on them, because public office is a public trust, and you are administering the affairs of over eight million people in the state”.

Alhaji Umar Faruk 11 also stressed the need for Governor Bala Mohammed to encourage his commissioners to associate with people as, according to him, they were his representatives to the people, their conditions, mode of living and modus operadi.

He also described the performance of Governor Bala Mohammed in the past two years to have surpassed what other governors performed/done in eight years, saying the governor has also good public relations which drives his socialization with the people generally.

Governor Bala Mohammed at the weekend embarked on official tour across the twenty local Government Areas of the state to supervise developmental projects being executed by his administration since its assumption to office almost two years ago.
