Niger State Governor,Sani Bello

The abducted Kagara Government Science Secondary School boys, teachers and staffers and their families seized by armed bandits penultimate week have been released.

A former commissioner of Information in the state and an indigene of the council area where the forty seven persons were taken, Abdulhameed Danladi told our correspondent in a telephone chat that the abductees had arrived at the Ahmadu Attahiru Secondary School, Kagara.

“All the kidnapped students, their teachers and family members have been released” he had disclosed during the phone discussion.

The kidnapped victims were released in the early hours of Saturday. They arrived at the Ahmadu Attahiru Secondary School in Kagara at about 8:00 in the morning.

A video clip on the arrivals of the released victims, looking tired, fatigued and malnourished has been trending on social media since day break.

At the opened field of the school, the returnees were seen sprawled on the ground looking dirty and haggard.

Another very competent source told our correspondent in Minna that the abductees were released last night at about 8:00pm.

No further information on the victims were sourced just as there were no details as to if any ransom was paid before the victims were released.

At the time of writing this report, sources said the victims were to be ferried to Minna to meet with state officials who it is expected would hand them over to healthcare personnel for medical profiling after which the released persons would be reunited with their families.

Meanwhile, armed bandits again struck on Friday at Gidan Adamu Pangu village, about four kilometres from Yakilla village in Rafi council area and abducted no fewer than twelve persons.

A man was shot several times by the bandits. He is on admission in one of the hospitals in Kagara.
