Activities were crippled in Kano due to the ongoing strike action by the commercial tricycles riders which commenced on Monday.
Members were directed to stay at home since last Friday, accusing the Kano Road Traffic Agency known as KAROTA members of harassing tricycle operators and extorting money despite what they pay regularly as revenue to the state government.
Our correspondent who monitored how the strike is affecting bussines activities in Kano metropolis, gathered that people of all categories were left stranded while others trecked to their places of work, especially students and many civil servants who had no means of acquiring private mobility.
A staff of the road traffic agency who pleaded anonymity told New Nigerian that, "It is true that some of our people extort from the trycles operators unnessessarily which forced them to embark on strike in order to ensure that excellent resolution is done between the agency and the operators. We hope that all would be well tomorrow Tuesday.".
Similarly, a government official who also pleaded that his name should not be mentioned told our correspondent that it is time for Kano State Government to reduce the number of tricycle operators because they are too many while some of them specialize in criminal activities.
Speaking to our correspondent, some people who trekked to their destinations called on the Kano State Government' to settle the matter in order to ensure that normalcy returns to the city in terms of transportation.
