Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has directed for the immediate demolition of a house in Bauchi metropolis suspected to be a dent of men of the underworld likely to be described as a distribution point of criminality.

The House situated at Mahaukata Quarters in the heart of Bauchi city was following a tip-off by security operatives discovered to have large chunk of ammunitions numbering over 1000 rounds concealed in a big bagco sack.

Leading a combined team of security operatives and officials of the State Urban Development Board for the immediate demolition, the Chief of Staff, Government House, Dr. Ladan Salihu revealed that uniforms of the army, police and immigration were also discovered in the suspected house.

The security operatives have hitherto thoroughly combed the house following reports to them by residents of the area of suspected foul play in it, being opened mostly by mid-nights for activities by the suspects.

Salihu wondered how such a house which was not an armoury could have said to be having such ammunitions for sophisticated weapons, saying government cannot handle such security breach with triviality.

“Security operatives have discovered a big bag containing ammunitions, sophisticated bullets that are being used or permitted to be used only by the military and nobody else”.

“To have found these ammunition in an isolated sub-burb of the state capital is unimaginable, So we know the owners of the property, the security forces are in contact and investigations are on-going, but we would not let the cat out of the bag until all operational aspects of the investigations are completed”.

Dr. Ladan Salihu therefore called on every citizen to be extra-vigilant and mindful of suspicious persons around their vicinities to ensure that any suspected person moving within, be quickly inform the security forces or government through appropriate channels.

According to him, the house demolition would serve as deterrent for those who wish to engage in acts of criminality of this scale so as to continue to keep the peace and ensure that citizens sleep with their eyes closed.

Apart from the ammunitions that were discovered, he stated, there was general purpose machine gun which is very deadly weapon that when put into use in such community will eliminate thousands of people.

Chief of staff therefore expressed gratitude to God for His intervention, and appreciated Governor Bala Mohammed for showing leadership and for taking this bold step to send a loud and clear message to every criminal mind indulge in criminality that Bauchi would not be a safe haven for them.

He further explained that ammunitions that were discovered in the suspected house are those that are being used exclusively for the components of the army called GPMG and it is a very dangerous weapon.

Describing the situation as worrisome, the chief of staff said that Governor Bala Mohammed ordered for the immediate demolition of the suspected house to serve as deterrent for those that can make Bauchi state a safe haven for their criminality.
