A strong Federal Government delegation led by the Minister of Information and Culture Wednesday afternoon arrived Minna and said measures were already in place to ensure the safe release of the abducted Kagara school students, staff and members of their families seized by armed bandits during the early morning raid at the Government Science College, Kagara.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed made this known when he led the delegation to the state for a first hand information of the incidence.
Others on the delegation were the Ministers of Interior, Rouf Aregbesola, Police Affairs, Mohammed Maigari Dingydi as well as National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno as well as the Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Mohammed Abubakar Adamu.
The leader of the delegation vowed that the federal government will not surrender it’s sovereignty to criminals just as he reassured the people of the state that no stone would be left unturned in the efforts to ensure the safety of all the abducted persons.
In his contributions, the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno disclosed aid both kinetic and non kinetic approaches would be used by security agencies to secure the release of the students and others under the captivity of the armed bandits.
He said the high commands of security agencies would strategies on confluence efforts including both political as well as military to get the desired result.
Major General Monguno explained that President Muhammadu Buhari was determined to apply whatever it will take to ensure safety of lives and property of all law abiding citizens in the country.
The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu also spoke on their mission. He said a lot of strategies were being put in place to deal with the situation even as he noted that the spate of banditry and kidnappings in the country have become issues of great concern to the federal government.
He said the Police was working, in synergy with other security agencies within the communities to ensure that the kidnapped students as well as those who were travelling along Zungeru – Garin Gabas – Tegina road last Sunday were freed unharmed.
He assured that the Police Force will reinforce on the strategy deployed in the release of Kankara Students of Katsina state to achieve the required feat in the latest incidence.
The Police Boss announced that the Police high command has deployed four units of personnel of Mobile Police Force to Niger state just as he revealed that the Police was working with the Department of State Security Service, (DSS) to reinforce security in parts of the state.
Earlier while welcoming the delegation, governor Abubakar Sani Bello had briefed them on the security situation in the state and efforts made so far to ensure the safe return of the students and others that were abducted.
He expressed gratitude over the prompt response by the federal government on the renewed banditry in parts of the state. He expressed optimism that the bandits would be given a good fight while all the abducted persons would be rescued and released soon.
