Following the non revalidation of the membership of former Governor of Zamfara State, Senator Ahmad Sani Yarima, a Coalition of All Progressives Congress (APC) Amana Forum in the state has condemned the party’s action against the former Governor of the state, Sen. Ahmad Sani Yariman Bakura.
In a statement on Monday, the Chairman of the Group, Aliyu Iliyasu Muhammad Gusau described the incident as a disrespect to the personality of Senator Yarima, founding father of the party in the state.
“It is dismay that the leadership of the APC in Zamfara State refused to validate the membership of the former Governor in the ongoing APC membership revalidation exercise as it entered the fourth day.
“We condemned totally the treatment by the leadership of the APC in Zamfara State against the personality of the former Governor of the State Distinguished Senator Ahmad Sani Yariman Bakura,” he said.
The group said it has drawn the attention of APC National Caretaker Committee led by Governor of Yobe State, MaiMala Buni, and leadership of the party in the State and Bakura local government to come back and reverse their decision of denying the chieftain of the party his right to validate his membership.
“The former Governor, Sen. Ahmad Sani Yariman Bakura do not deserve such treatment from the party stakeholders in view of the critical role he played in forming the APC and nursing it to attain the position where it is today.
“Senator Ahmad Yarima had been the father for all APC members and his legacies to the state goes beyond such ill decision,” he said.
The group wondered if what Senator Kabir Garba Marafa and his likes the members of former G8 Group did that subjected the party into great losses in 2019 could be forgiven, then Yarima’s issues need to be overlooked.
“There is need for the National Caretaker Committee of the APC to hasten intervening to rescue the party from cracks,” the group said.
The group also added that Yarima is a politician with national reputation and skills to drive masses support for political movements.
“Members of the forum therefore implored party faithfuls in the state to join the crusade for maintaining the dignity and integrity of the former governor, statesman and also a APC national chieftain”, he explained.
It will be recalled that the APC Chaiman of Yarima’s polling unit in Bakura town, Haliru Danyaya had yesterday at a press conference asked Yarima to apologize to the stakeholders of the party in his constituency over the alleged anti party activities he played during the state assembly bye election before he could be allowed to revalidate his membership.
