A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Hon Jide Adeyemi on Saturday declared that APC will be the party to beat in the 2023’general elections in Oyo State.
Hon Adeyemi stated this in Ibadan while speaking with journalists after revalidating his APC membership at his Its Bale Olugbode constituency in the on going APC membership registration and revalidation exercise.
The APC House of Representatives hopeful for Ibadan North East / South East federal constituency pointed out that the present large turn out of the people of Oyo state for the membership registration and revalidation exercise clearly showed that the party remains a leading party in the state.
Hon Adeyemi maintained that APC still stand as the only grassroots political party in Nigeria with the love of Nigerian masses through which the people can reap real dividends of democracy in Oyo state and Nigeria in general.
The House of Representatives hopeful then urged the people of his constituency and Oyo state in general especially the youths to embrace the on going APC membership registration and revalidation exercise for them to be actively involved in the politics of their areas.
“You cannot stay outside and be complaining about those ruling you. The best thing to do is to get involved and contribute your own quota You don’t sit outside the fence and be complaining, that is why we need to make use of this opportunity and register as the part members”, he said.
On the insecurity in Oyo state, the APC Chieftain called on Governor Seyi Makinde to stop playing lip service to the issue of security in the state by returning to the strategies put in place by the immediate past administration of late Senator Abiola Ajimobi during his tenure.
Hon Adeyemi emphasized that there is the need for Governor Makinde to be bold enough and do the needful by picking up those formenting trouble in Ibadan and other parts of Oyo state to serve as deterrent to others .
While tasking Governor Makinde to work together with all the security apparatus in the state, the APC Chieftain said the governor should convene a stakeholders forum on security in the state as well as create an enabling environment for adequate security in the state.
