Katsina State Government has assured that the Hajj Saving Scheme system introduced by Ja’iz Bank Plc in the country would offer opportunity to intending pilgrims to save and plan for Hajj without stress.
The State Deputy Governor Alhaji Mannir Yakubu stated this while launching the Hajj saving scheme introduced by National Hajj Commission in collaboration with Ja’iz Bank and Katsina State Government at the conference hall of the State Pilgrims Welfare Board in Katsina Metropolis
Represented by Permanent Secretary, Deputy Governor’s office, Alhaji Aminu Abubakar Bazariye, he said the scheme came at a time when Covid-19 pandemic made things tougher and appreciated the efforts of NAHCON. stressing that, “the system offers investment opportunities and the sensitization campaign for Hajj Saving Scheme is a veritable tool to fast tracking its implementation.”
Alhaji Mannir Yakubu noted that the scheme was technology driven and the sensitization campaign would serve as an avenue to provide the much needed answers on its working methodology.pointing out that,
“Katsina State Government would continue to work hand in hand with the Commission to key into the programme for the benefit of Muslims Ummah in the state.reveling that already the state Government has granted approval to the state pilgrims welfare Board as requested by NAHCON to place the Scheme under the newly established Directorate of Monitoring and Evaluation of the Board.”
The Katsina State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Yakubu reiterated the need for the Management of NAHCON to resuscitate its Zonal office in Katsina or establish an outreach centre to be able to synergize and promote efficient service delivery and welfare of pilgrims.
Earlier, National Chairman of National Hajj Commission (NAHCON), Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan said Hajj Savings Scheme was being implemented by NAHCON in collaboration with Ja’iz Bank to assist intending pilgrims such as workers, traders, herders, and students save and plan for Hajj over a period of time to fulfill the fifth pillar of Islam.
Alhaji Zikirullah Kunle Hassan called on Muslims Nationwide to enroll members of their family, colleagues, associates and neighbors and appreciate efforts of Katsina State Government on the scheme.
Also speaking, Executive Director, Katsina State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Suleiman Nuhu Kuki described the scheme as easiest way for any intending pilgrim to save money for pilgrimage. pointing out that the event was a follow-up to the implementation of resolutions agreed upon by all stakeholders in Abuja last year, aimed at addressing all problems involved in the operations of the schemes and its take-up in all the states of the federation.
Alhaji Nuhu Kuki said three centres have been established for registering into the scheme, located at the three senatorial zones in the state.
He explained that, “the scheme if properly implemented, will address the issues of planning Hajj, rising prices of Hajj fare and time frame of payments.”
Alhaji Suleiman Nuhu Kuki expressed his gratitude to Katsina State Government under Governor Aminu Bello Masari’s administration for the support being given to the board regularly.
Coordinator of the Hajj Saving Scheme at the National Hajj Commission,Abuja,Dr Aliyu Tanko while presenting a paper at the event explained fully on how the scheme would operate. emphasized that, “people can register with the scheme through the pilgrims’ welfare board or by opening a Hajj Savings Scheme in any of the Ja’iz Bank branches nationwide.”
