A bill sponsored by the member representing Numan/Demsa/Lamurde federal constituency, Rt. Hon Kwamoti B. Lao’ri for the establishment of Federal College of Education Technical Numan, has passed first reading.
Lao’ri noted that, he sponsored the bill because education is the bedrock of sustainable development, thus a high premium is placed on the development of education in his constituency.
He maintained that the bill entitled “Federal College of Education (Technical) Numan Establishment Bill” marked as HB 1196″ is to ensure rapid development of education in the area.
” It is my belief that no meaningful development can be achieved in the 21st century without emphasis on technical education.
” This is why out of the 3 capital projects I’m implementing, two focus directly on education and youth empowerment.
” The construction of an examination hall in Numan and an information & communication technology (ICT) centre in Lamurde all support my vision to provide equal opportunity for every child and youth to achieve their full potentials without any limitations.
” With growing unemployment among Nigerian youth and the ever sliming chances of getting employment in the formal public sector, coupled with the effect of COVID-19 pandemic on labour and employment globally, technical education presents a golden opportunity for the youth to learn skills that would make them not only self-employed but job creators and employers of labour themselves”, he stated.
Lao’ri asserted that technology is the present and the future, and his constituents of Numan/Demsa/ Lamurde cannot be left behind.
