Nigeria’s COVID-19 Update: Oyo Leads In 643 New Cases, Total 140,391

There were 643 new cases of Novel CoronaVirus disease (COVID-19) which spread across 18 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Nigeria on Monday 8th February 2021.
The pandemic invaded the following states: Oyo 88, Lagos 86, Rivers 55, Edo 54, Akwa Ibom 53, Adamawa 52, Plateau 45, Kaduna 41, FCT 34, Kwara 27, Benue 20, Kano 19, Delta 18, Nasarawa 16, Niger 15, Bayelsa 11, Borno 5, Bauchi 2 and Sokoto 2.
As of the end of yesterday Nigeria reported having a total of 140,391 confirmed cases of COVID-19 pandemic since the index case was found in the country.
Out of the total, 114,635 positive cases of the worldwide virus had been treated and discharged from Nigeria’s COVID-19 isolation centres, while the disease had claimed the lives of 1,673 patients in the nation to date.
Daily update from Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) showed that COVID-19 killed six persons in Nigeria on Monday.
NCDC reported that its discharges yesterday included “744 community recoveries in Lagos State, 100 in Rivers State, 78 in Plateau State, 72 in Kaduna State and 2 in Benue State managed in line with guidelines.”
