The Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) Membership Registration and Revalidation Committee in Oyo State, Honourable Abubakar Bawa Bwari on Tuesday disclosed that the exercise will be an all inclusive one.
Represented by the committee Acting Chairman Mallam Ahmad Sajoh at the handing over of registration materials for onward distribution to all the local governments and wards in Oyo state held in Ibadan, the Chairman also said the party is to digitalise the exercise.
According to Mallam Sajoh, in the exercise, there will be no room for discrimination among those wishing to register or revalidate their membership saying, it will be an all inclusive exercise as nobody will close the door for anybody.
Emphasizing that there will be no discrimination as there will be physical and electronic monitoring of the exercise, Mallam Sajoh said the registration and revalidation is aimed at tackling any fraudulent in membership of the party.
He stressed that APC with the new registration and revalidation, will be digital and a unique exercise and as well make APC to be the first political party in Nigeria to give unique number to its members, adding that this will enable the party to among others have adequate and accurate data about its members.
Mallam Sajoh pointed out that in the registration and revalidation exercise, it will be impossible for anyone to take the form from one local government to the other as there will be different codes for every local government in the registration and revalidation.
The Acting Chairman emphasized that there is the need for APC stakeholders and the people of the state to take opportunity of the exercise to register so as to become a bonafide member of the party, and that those in charge of the registration and revalidation process have been adequately trained and made to understand what the registration is all about.
Lauding APC stakeholders in Oyo state for their support and cooperation with the committee, Mallam Sajoh said, “we have received good cooperation from the leadership of the party in the state, technical committee was set up, and everyone that suppose to be part of the committee has been trained at the unit level, ward and local government level on how to handle the registration, so that they can understand what the exercise is all about”.
“There won’t be any mistakes in the distributions of the form because the forms have been already coded according to their local governments, and two local governments can never has the same number, we have taken the cognizance of all the diverse interests within the party in Oyo State, so the exercise is all inclusive, we are not going to close our gate on anybody, so, nobody is going to be disqualified from registering.”
He then called on the media to be fair to the committee and the party in reporting the on going registration and revalidation exercise by spreading the success of the exercise across the state and Nigeria as a whole.
Oyo state Caretaker Chairman of the party, Chief Akin Oke in his brief remark said the exercise is as success and that members of the party and the people to register as a bonafide members of the party.
