Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Haasan on Sunday declared that there will be no going back in the commission strive to ensure lesser and affordable Hajj for intending pilgrims from Nigeria.
Speaking at a special prayer organised by the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) in his honour held at the conference hall , University of Ibadan mosque complex, Alhaji Hassan said towards ensuring this, the commission is determined to totally digitalise all its Hajj operations .
The NAHCON Chairman stressed that there is no doubt in the frequent increase in hajj fare would make it difficult for people to go to hajj and and as well result to inability of the commission to meet up with its quota allocated to Nigeria by Saudi Authority.
As a way of resolving it, he said the commission resulted into the introduction of the hajj saving scheme aimed at helping to address the challenges and increase the number of people going for hajj exercise, hence the need the commission to device an usual strategy to be able to meet up with its quota in the holy pilgrimage,
“The concept of hajj saving scheme is whereby the poor can save bit by bits between two and five years, until they are able to get to the amount required for hajj.The money is turned into investment through our partnership with Jaiz Bank and they are entitled to increase in their holdings in the bank through their profit,”, he said.
Stressing that with the introduction of the Hajj Savings Scheme, Hajj operations in Nigeria will no doubt become a reference point being the first of its type in the sub Saharan Africa, Alhaji Hassan added that NAHCON will also ensure take off of Hajj Training Institute to handle the training of tour operators and others for a smooth Hajj operations.
In his address, the MUSWEN President, Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo urged Muslims in the South West region and Nigeria in general to give their total support and cooperation to the NAHCON Chairman
The MUSWEN President specifically cautioned against distracting the NAHCON Chairman with selfish demands, saying, “ourbrother Zikrullah Hassan needs our full cooperation in terms of well wish and sincere prayer”.
“His assignment in NAHCON is national, Islamic and corporate,We should not frivolously distract his attention with selfish demands. Any success or failure in that office, during his tenure, is a major scale by which MUSWEN will be weighed in posterity,” he said
Alhaji Oladejo then advised the NAHCON Chairman to always give careful consideration to any advice that would be coming to him as he occupied that sensitive position and decided wisely.
The special prayer was attended by prominent Islamic leaders from across the South West states of Oyo, Ogun, Lagos, Osun, Ekiti and Ondo and NAHCON officials.
