Governor Badaru Abubakar Of Jigawa State.

Community of ancient town of Babura were thrown into mourning, fear, and anxiety following the clash of two rival political thugs of Babura and Gumel which led to the loss of one life and many sustained injuries.

This followed a misunderstanding leading to exchange of abusive words, and attacks with dangerous weapons such as knives, cutlasses, and dangerous weapons amongst the two warring parties.

According to an eye account, the quarrel between the two warring parties comes a long way in the history of both Gumel and Babura ancient cities in Jigawa State.

However, things took a new dimension when the Babura based thugs perceived that another leader of a group from a rival Gumel Local Government Area was being pampered by those in government, a situation which they vowed to call a spade a spade.

When contacted, the police spokesperson, ASP Zubairu Aminuddeen confirmed the incident and disclosed the names of the affected victims as Sadisu Mohammed, Abubakar Mahmud, among others.

He denied the occurrence of death in the episode and assured that normalcy has since been restored in Babura as police are on top of the situation to avert spill over or future reoccurrence.

Reports from the area indicate that the unfortunate circumstance occurred during the commissioning of a 12.4km township road constructed by Jigawa State Government and awarded to Triacta Construction Firm at a cost of N3.5bn.

Earlier commissioning the road, the visiting Ebonyi State Governor, Engineer David Umahi commended Governor Badaru for the provision of numerous infrastructural developments in areas of good roads, health, and educational sectors, describing the governor as an architect of development to the people of his state.

“I am quite impressed with the quantum of developmental stride of Governor Badaru. I must have to borrow a leaf of some of my brother’s initiatives to Ebonyi  State in furtherance of our existing noble ideals in transforming our state to progress and development,” he added.
