Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, Ilaji Hotels and Resorts, Chief Dotun Sanusi has tasked Nigerians to speak out for the country to overcome its major challenges.
Chief Sanusi gave the charge while speaking at his decoration as the Patron of ” Down To Heart Speak Out Initiative” as part of activities to mark the first retreat of the NGO held at the Ilaji Hotel and Resorts, Akanran, Ibadan.
The CEO of Ilaji Hotels and Resort, pointed out that until Nigerians learn to speak out, many of the challenges in the society and that country at large may not be resolved.
Specifically, he stressed that there is the urgent need for Nigerians to speak out on some inconsistencies in the nation’s constitution for those in the positions of authority to do the needful about for Nigeria  to move forward.
“The major thing is the motive behind the Speak Out Initiative. The Speak Out concept is in tandem with what I believe in. It goes along with my vision and I believe in the situation whereby you are to speak out what is going on in our society that are not okay, so that we can take corrective measures in order to be in the right positions and for Nigeria to be at the right place”, he said.
Speaking on  violence across the country, Chief Sanusi maintained “first, we need to address a lot of the things that are wrong in the constitution of Nigeria. So, basically all the amendments will help to check out all the inadequacies and imbalances in our society”.
“We have to address it. We need to go back, speak out so that all the anomalies in the constitution can be corrected, so if we don’t speak out, how would the people concern know that we need to stripe the constitution, amend it and make the right constitution for the country.”
Convener, Down To Heart Speak Out Initiative, Comrade Adejoke Oyeleke while speaking on the three days retreat disclosed thatthe NGO which has been operating on online platforms for years saw the need to bring women together to address certain challenges peculiar to them.

Comrade Oyeleke said, “the concept behind the Speak Out Initiative is to encourage women to Speak out and not be dying silently, we are here to tell them that there is a shoulder for them to lean on because we discovered that when people especially women are facing challenges in one way or the other, they easily get depressed and before you know what’s happening, they end up where it shouldn’t be”.
Expressed appreciation to members and the owner of SAO petroleum, Comrade Salimon Oladiti for being the biggest motivation which led to the birth of the initiative, Comrade Oyeleke stated that  the “reason behind the retreat is that we have discovered that, as a woman, a mother, we always throw ourselves into almost everything in the family and we hardly have time for anything, we hardly have time to relax for even ten minutes without attending to something either for our husbands or for our children”.
“We now discovered that if we are able to go away from our homes, we can talk together, chat, address our issues, learn from one another and also gain in ways that we can be better mothers, wives and or career persons. And we thank God for helping us achieve success in this retreat.
“I want to thank and appreciate my parents, Otunba Salimon Oladiti and the family because he is the brain behind this retreat. He is a huge motivation by helping spot the potentials in me that gave rise to the NGO. I thank him for the encouragement and support.”
The Guess lecturer who is an Associate Professor at the Crawford University, Igbesa Ogun State, Dr Jonathan Amuno while speaking the retreat on the topic “Attitudinal Change for a blissful and harmonious marriage” advocated for a deliberate change of attitude positively if marital challenges must be addressed.
According to Dr Amuno many marriages have issues because  many people make fundamental mistakes in their choices of partner and that there is the need for a change in behaviour, attitude and ethics and morality stressing that until Africans as a continent begin to change certain conception about marriage, many marriages will always have harmony issues.
“Until Africans as a continent begins to change certain conceptions about marriage, many marriages will always have harmony issues. If you want peace, you must walk with the Lord. Leave it for God and stop using your strength. Many marriages having issues are as a result of the path many people took. Many marriages have left God and are running on African science which is why many people are never happy in the marriage.”
