Nigeria’s COVID-19 Update: 1,624 New Cases, Total 137,654



Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced that it detected 1,624 new cases of Novel CoronaVirus disease (COVID-19) in 21 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja on Friday 5th February 2021.
The disease control agency said that the following states were affected by the pandemic attack on Friday: Lagos 535, Plateau 183, Osun 98, Akwa Ibom 85, FCT 83, Ondo 77, Nasarawa 72, Edo 69, Oyo 63, Rivers 52, Taraba 48, Ogun 44, Borno 31, Kwara 31, Ekiti 30, Benue 25, Kano 21, Niger 21, Kaduna 18, Abia 15, Delta 10 and Bayelsa 7.
NCDC reported on its twitter platform that as of 11.41 p m. on Friday 5th February 2021 a total of 137,654 confirmed cases of COVID-19 had occurred in Nigeria since the index case was detected in the country.
Out of the total, 111,639 people had been treated of the worldwide virus and discharged from the nation’s COVID-19 isolation centres, while 1,641 deaths arising from the global disease had been recorded in Nigeria to date.
According to NCDC’s daily update data, nine COVID-19-related patients died in Nigeria on Friday.
The disease control agency stated that its discharges on Friday included 831 community recoveries in Lagos State and 85 in Kaduna State managed in line with guidelines.
