Akwa Ibom SWAN Exco Lists Achievements In One Year

Akwa Ibom State Chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has said that it has created a robust relationship with veteran sports administrators, a development which has earned good for sports sector in the state.
Among the veterans is a FIFA/CAF Match Commissioner, Mr. Paul Bassey, currently the Chairman of Akwa United FC and Senior Special Assistant to Governor Emmanuel on Sports matters. 
State Chapter Chairman of SWAN, Mr. Emmanuel Akpan in his message to mark his Exco first year in office on Friday, said the relationship has made it easy for the veterans to attend SWAN congresses with ease.
Other strides recorded by the Chapter according Comrade Akpan include, “facilitating the donation of COVID-19 palliatives from the Commissioner, Youth and Sports, Sir Monday Ebong Uko and the State Football Association (FA) to members.
“Set up Seminar Planning Committee and Welfare Committee for members as well as securing and distributed End-of-Year packages comprising bags of rice and a live cow to members courtesy of the State Ministry of Youth and Sports.
“Hosted the first ever SWAN End-of-Year Get-together and Dinner in the state and Presentation of SWAN’s position during the public hearing on a Bill For A Law To Establish The Akwa Ibom State Sports Development Fund at the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.
“Mobilising members to support State football clubs and promote the completion agenda of the Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration in the sports sector.
“Had the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Sir Monday Ebong Uko as special guest at SWAN congress, the first Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Akwa Ibom to attend SWAN congress and constituted SWAN Advisory Committee among others”, he said.
Comrade Akpan however, acknowledged the grace of God upon SWAN in the state, noting that His blessings fell on the Association after the thanksgiving to usher in the Exco at The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Four Towns Assembly, Uyo.

The Chapter Chairman also attributed the success so far to the unity, inclusiveness, speed, creativity and the transparency among others which have become the trademark and defining elements of his led SWAN Executive since its came on board.
He assured members that his administration would continue to work hard and add value to sports development in the state, besides attracting welfare to members.
Recall Emmanuel Akpan led Executive of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Akwa Ibom State Chapter emerged on February 5th, 2020, with visions to unite members together, attract tangible developments, reposition the Association for National and global relevance as well as carve a niche for itself.
