ABU ASUU Calls For Immediate Persecution Of Suspected Kidnappers

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria Chapter has called on the authorities concerned to as a matter of urgency prosecute the suspects  arrested in connection with  kidnappings in the university. 

Professor Rabi’u Nasiru, Chairman of the union who made the call in Zaria said, their arrest is taking longer time than necessary without prosecuting the suspects to Court of Law. 

He said, ASUU also has been watching keenly to see that all those involved in the kidnappings in the university are brought to book no matter their position in the university. 

According to the Chairman, the union has been following media reports on the kidnapping in ABU which the suspects at hand have given confessional statements which indicted some university staff whom are yet to be arrested. 

Professor Rabi’u warned that ASUU will not take the matter lightly as the university is back with its academic activities with students on ground and the peace and stability of the institution is first. 

” The Union will make sure all those mentioned by the suspects will be  arrested for investigation until they are not found guilty before they will be free as nobody is above the laws of the land.”

Professor Rabi’u mentained that ASUU will not relent on the maintenance of peace, security of the university despite threats their members are receiving from armed groups via kidnapping.
