Home team, Kano Pillars came out strong and trounced visiting Jigawa Golden Stars 2-0 in a local derby played at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna in a mid week NIgeria Professional Football League (NPFL) fixture on Wednesday.
Pillars dominated action in the first half and their efforts rewarded by two unreplied goals.
Visiting Jigawa strikers who were goal shy, were placed in their own half of the field for most of the duration of the first half, with their best shot being a corner kick which was poorly taken.
Pillars Coach, Emmanuel Soccoia in an interview with newsmen after the match, said that his players played very well and he was impressed.
Ahead of the match against Ifeanyi Ubah FC on Sunday, he described it as a big match, but said his team is out for a victory.
Coach of Jigawa Golden Stars said Kano Pillars took advantage very early.
It was a very good match. He attributed the goals but said that it taught them a good lesson.
He described the officiating as okay.
Ngweni Dasini of Kano Pillars who scored the two goals of the game was voted as the “Man of The Match”.
He was presented with a plaque by Kaduna Sports Writers Association of NIgeria (SWAN), Chairman, Comrade Isaiah Kemje Benjamin.
