Insecurity: NURTW Backs Reintroduction Of Toll Gates

Officials of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Jigawa State are of the opinion that they welcome the idea of the possible agitation for the return of toll gates in the country provided they will assist the security personnel in checking the security breaches of men of the underworld.

The Jigawa scribe of the NURTW, Comrade Tsoho Dutse expressed this in Dutse, saying that they are not opposed to such government’s agitations, provided such will restore sanity in checking the incessant security violations on major highways by men of the under world.

Dutse decried over the incessant insecurity situation, ranging from kidnapping, arson and political killings that are bedeviling the country, stressing that with the proposed reintroduction of the above topic, they hope it will assist security personnel in such posts in detecting or exposing the wrong- doings of such bad elements.

Speaking in the same vein, Mal. Idris Chamo a commercial driver plying Dutse- Bauchi road stated that as the federal government is agitating for return of toll gates, they hope they will look into the issue of fixing major highways into proper shape due to deplorable condition.

” It is most disheartening, most of our federal roads across the country are in bad shape, a situation which calls for urgent federal government’s attention”

On the proposed restriction of herders to Northern states, Chamo said such move could not be feasible as many of them are used to Western and Eastern states life styles, adding that the only panacea to such controversies is mutual understanding for peaceful coexistence amongst the warring factions.

He also suggested  the setting up of National and state’s Nomads board to be saddled with responsibility of attending all impending obstacles confronting herders predicaments and proper solution for peaceful coexistence amongst the warring bodies.
