The Management of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has dismissed the claims by an online media that a staff of the university is issuing fake degree certificates to fraudulent students.
A statement issued to newsmen by the Director Public Affairs Directorate of the University, Malam Auwalu Umar said the management had since dismissed it as untrue allegations.

He said, the university has reiterated that the  person, SHAFA’ATU ABDULLAHI  U15Y2014 purported to have been issued a certificate is actually a withdrawn student.

The statement noted that ABU does not ignore such a weighty allegation in line with ensuring that its  very high reputation and the highly respected integrity of its certificate are protected.

According to the statement, the university’s career officer, a unit responsible for students mobilization for the NYSC scheme has confirmed that SHAFA’ATU ABDULLAHI  was not among the students for the one year mandatory NYSC  as claimed by SAHARA REPORTERS .

“The University has set up a high powered committee consisting of Senate members to thoroughly investigate the allegations which is expected to complete it’s assignment soon.

“ABU is of the belief that running  a story in a bad taste as no attempt was made by that media to contact the university for its own comment before going to press”.
