Amidst the tension in Ibarapa area of Oyo State, the Ooni of Ife and Co Chairman National Council of Traditional Rulers in Nigeria, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has urged Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho to allow constituted authorities take charge and handle the security challenges in the state.
Speaking on an Arise TV programme, Ooni Ogunwusi emphasized that there is no doubt in the fact that Chief Sunday Igboho serves as mouthpiece of the downtrodden and has already passed his message across.
Ooni Ogunwusi pointed out that Chief Sunday Igboho has done well to speak for the downtrodden and should now allow the constituted authorities including Governor, Seyi Makinde, to take charge and handle the security challenges.
According to Oba Ogunwusi, the Yoruba Rights activist should back down for government to take over the battle to avoid politicians hijacking the situation considering the fact that “everything should be done with moderation”.
“Let us be very objective. He (Igboho) is being a mouthpiece for the downtrodden. He came up and everybody is listening now but my advice to him as a traditional ruler is that he needs to be very careful so that the politicians won’t hijack the whole motive from him.”, he said
The Ooni added, “he has done well and we’ve already praised him but he shouldn’t take laws into his hands. We have the governor there, he is the Chief security officer of the state and Mr President has invited him (Makinde)”.
“Let the right people that are being authorised to do what is right do it. He (Igboho) has done well and the world has heard him but everything should be done in moderation,
“We know that the bandits are everywhere in the country. Igboho should not take laws into his hands. We have laws in Nigeria and we should follow it. Let the right people chosen do and follow what they are supposed to do,”
