Governor Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai of Kaduna State, on Wednesday, said he is confidence with a detachment of the Nigerian Army Women Corps that has been deployed to complement security patrols on the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway.
He expressed this while speaking at Kakau Village along the Abuja – Kaduna highway where he received the 1st batch of 100 female soldier of the 1 Women Special Operations Battalion in Kaduna.
The Governor and the Deputy Governor expressed gratitude to the military for deploying the all women troops and assured them of the support of the Kaduna State Government as they work for security in the state.
He expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Airforce and Nigerian Police for ultimate sacrifices, working round the clock to make the state safer.
el-Rufai said that, “On behalf of the government and people of Kaduna State, I will like to convey my message to the outgoing Chief of Army Staff, General Yusuf Burutai, for always responding to our calls to send troops to Kaduna State to make our state safer. We wish him well and we are very grateful for all that he has done.
“We also welcome with gratitude the new Chief of Army Staff who incidentally is from Kaduna State, we are very proud of that, and we wish you a very very meritorious tenure as well.”
He however, explained that having this female troops in the state, to him, is a sign that not only the army is moving forward in the right direction, but the problems of Abuja – Kaduna roads will end.
“However, the men have tried under the leardership of Col. Gambari, this road has been made quite safe, I had to call on the Chief of Army Staff General Burutai, why are you taking Col Gambari from here, we need him, he knows all the terrains, looking at the areas of operations, but he assured me of great news.”
