State Commissioner for Forest, Engr.Tunji Akinosi has disclosed that the state government has approved 108,000 hectares of land for tree planting and residential quarters.
According to him, the state government will involve the private sector for an upcoming forest regeneration and infrastructural development projects in Imeko and Aworo Forest Reserves.
Engr. Akinosi revealed this when he received a delegation of the Nigeria Society of Engineers, (NSE), Abeokuta branch in his office, Okemosan, Abeokuta.

Akinosi said the Imeko and Aworo Forest reserves had been left for long and encroached by various human activities.
He stated further that the present administration has been putting measures in place to develop and manage that reserve for adequate sustainability.
The NSE Chairman, Engr. Kolawole Olonade, said the Dapo Abiodun -led administration started on an impressive note, by giving notable attention to various areas of socio-economic development which already impacting positively on people’s lives across the state.
