Nigeria’s COVID-19 Update: 964 New Cases, Total 121,566



Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced that 18 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja contracted 964 new cases of Novel Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Sunday 24th January 2021.
The areas affected by the latest COVID-19 infection Sunday are: Lagos 360, FCT 88, Ogun 73, Imo 72, Kaduna 67, Plateau 57, Abia 41, Osun 41, Rivers 32, Kano 26, Niger 24, Benue 23, Edo 20, Cross River 20, Akwa Ibom 8, Nasarawa 6, Zamfara 6, Ekiti 6 and Jigawa 4.
As of 11.38 p.m. on 24th January 2021 Nigeria had recorded a total of 121,566 confirmed cases of the global pandemic since the first case was reported in the country.
Out of the total, 97,228 people who contracted the virus had been treated and discharged from Nigeria’s COVID-19 isolation centres, while 1,504 deaths caused by the disease has occurred in the country to date, according to NCDC.
COVID-19 claimed the lives of two persons in Nigeria on Sunday.
NCDC reported that its discharges on Sunday included 774 community recoveries in Lagos State managed in line with guidelines.
