The management of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria has said that it is still awaiting an approval from the Kaduna State Government for the reopening of the Institution.
A statement issued to newsmen by the Director Public Affairs of the university, Malam Auwalu Umar stated that the State Government sent a verification team to the University on Wednesday, 20th January, 2021 to specifically assess ABU’s compliance with COVID-19 preventive protocols.
He said the university indeed enjoyed the tremendous cooperation of the team during the assessment tour.
It would be recalled that the University had on Tuesday, 12th January, 2021, announced its decision to reopen for resumption of academic activities on Monday, 25th January, 2021 subject to further directives issued by the Federal and Kaduna State Governments.
According to the statement, the university management reassured all students, parents and other stakeholders that whatever decision communicated to the Institution will be conveyed to them immediately for further action.
