Amidst the controversy over the seven days ultimatum by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to unregistered herders in the state’s forest reserves, the Odua Peoples Congress (OPC) New Era on Thursday cautioned the Federal Government against its undue intervention into the matter
OPC New Era in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Sina Akinpelu advised Federal Government to allow Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to fix the security situation in his state instead of just dabbling into it.
Comrade Akinpelu in the statement stressed that instead of dabbling into the security situation in Ondo state, President Buhari and the Presidency should “as a matter of urgency address the insecurity situation disturbing the country especially the South Western states .
The OPC faction spokesperson frowned at the reactions of the federal government on the ultimatum given by Governor Akeredolu to the unregistered herdsmen grazing in forest reserves in Ondo state
“Why is it that President Buhari is only responsive to issues that concerns the Fulani more than other tribes in the country. When the daughter of Pa Reuben Fasoranti was allegedly killed by the herders, there was no tangible response from the Federal Government except condolence letter sent to the family without any action to fish out the killer’s”, he said.
Comrade Akinpelu maintained that the OPC New Era would not hesitate to mobilise its members from across the country in support of Governor Akeredolu, saying, the group “is ready to mobilise all militant groups in the South Western States of the country in favour of Governor Akeredolu”
Tasking Yoruba sons and daughters both at home and in the diaspora not to allow the struggle of their leaders be in vain, the OPC New Era Publicity Secretary lauded Professor Banji Akintoye and others for their roles in the struggle for the Yoruba Nation.
Comrade Akinpelu however called on traditional rulers, religious leaders and all true sons and daughters of Odua not to allow the name of Gov Akeredolu to be dented by the Federal Government led by President Muhamadu Buhari.
