COVID-19 Kills Another Akwa Ibom Senior Citizen

The State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State, Obong Udo Ekpenyong has been reported dead.
News of Ekpenyong’s death came barely weeks that Retired Commodore Idongesit Nkanga, PDP Chieftain and former military governor of the state had passed on from complications traceable to COVID-19 virus.
A statement on Uyo, signed by the Party State Publicly Secretary, Borono Bassey stated that with the news of Obong Udo Ekpenyong’s death has thrown PDP into unimaginable grief, even as the Party condole with the bereaved family. 
According to his physicians, Obong Ekpenyong died in the early hours of Tuesday, January 19, 2021 from complications traceable to the novel Covid-19 virus. 
Obong Udo Ekpenyong who assumed office as the 6th State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom was the immediate past Commissioner for Local Government  and Chieftaincy Affairs, a former member of the National Executive Committee of our PDP. 
He was also a former Political Adviser to Governor Victor Attah as well as  a one time Chairman of Ukanafun Local Government Area. 
“We are confident that God Almighty who is the source of all comfort will grant us the grace to bear this tragic loss”, the State scribe stated statement.
