The AGRA/NAERLS CBA project in collaboration with Ministry for Local Government Kaduna State concludes training of Five Women groups from each local government area on improved rice processing.
Speaking at the closing of batch B from Kubau, Chikun and Kajuru local government areas, the Director National Agricultural Extension Research and Liason Services (NAERLS) Professor Emmanuel Ikani hoped that the training will raise the hope of the Nigerian farmers on the production of quality rice.
Represented by Assistant Director Extension and Training, Prof. Muhammad Musa Jaliya, he said the institute wants to see farmers doing very well in agricultural production.
Professor Emmanuel Ikani added that with the simple processing equipment, the participants will produce clean and quality rice for Nigerian markets.
He hoped that after they return to their communities, they will teach those that are not opportuned to attend the training what they learnt.
The Director used the occasion to invite other stakeholders to come and collaborate with the institute for the benefit of all.
In her remarks, Dr. Esther Ibrahim, Kaduna State Coordinator, AGRA, said that they always want to see agriculture improving at all levels.
She said, the training of women groups is very important and timely because, it will accord them the opportunity to improve on what they have been doing locally.
According to her, giving a woman training is as good as giving a whole nation and for that, the training was timely.
Dr. Ibrahim thanked the Kaduna State Government’ and Ministry for Local Government, as well as the local government councils, facilitators and stakeholders for making the training programme a success.
Each participating group received a complete set of simple processing equipment.
