A traditional title holder in Zazzau Emirate, Alh. Muhammad Sani Uwaisu Garkuwan Kudun Zazzau has called on the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency, to buy grains as the prices are skyrocketting in the local markets.
He made the call in an interview with New Nigerian on the situation NIgeria is currently facing over very low production of grains.
Alh. Sani Uwais said the major problem of the low production is the insecurity, kidnapping and banditry among other social vices.
According to him, if urgent steps are not taken immediately, the country may face serious shortage of foodstuff.
He said buying and storing the grains will save Nigeria from food crises as this year, there is shortage of rainfall.
Speaking on the high cost of fertilizer, Alh. Sani Uwaisu said that government should do something to reduce the prze of fertilizer for small farmers to feel the impact of democracy.
The Garkuwan Kudun Zazzau also appealed to the government to improve on the security challenges.
