The Oyo State Commandant of the Western Nigeria Security Network, (WNSN), Operation Amotekun, Colonel Olayinka Olayanju (rtd) on Tuesday disclosed that his men are not killing innocent people as been alleged .
Col Olayanju (rtd)  who stated this while featuring on JAMZ 100.1 FM, Ibadan  live phone in programme, “Early Press” monitored by the New Nigerian.
The Amotekun Commandant pointed out that there was no basis for the Corps personels to be engaging in such acts having adequately trainned the Corps on how to relate with the people in terms of providing security.
According to Colonel Olayanju (rtd) most of the allegations against Amotekun especially in some sections of the media are “completely falsehood, fake news and negative reports ” which in most cases are capable of inciting the people of the state against the corps. He maintained that the Amotekun as at present comprised mainly of members of vigilante groups as well as local hunters making use of dane guns not sophisticated guns as claimed by enemies of the Corps.
Commenting on the last Saturday combing of forests in Ibarapaland and other three local government areas of the state, the Amotekun Commandant emphasized that the leadership of the herdsmen were part of the arrangement that led to the carrying out of the raid and  that there was a meeting of all stakeholders including the  leadership of the Fulani herders in the affected  and that the joint agreement was to carry out the raid on forests.
Colonel Olayanju stressed that the claims that Amotekun Corps personels carried out the raid without involving the Fulani vigilante members was not true as they were at the raid together with other local vigilante groups with the Amotekun corps.
“It is not true that the Fulani herders and their leadership were not carried along in the raid of the forests for bandits terrorising the people of the area. They are part of the processes that led to the raid and they are part of the execution of the raid. They were fully involved” .
The Amotekun Commandant however emphasized that there will be no going back in  the commitment of the Gov Seyi Makinde led administration at  ensuring adequate security in the state,
He also tasked the people  of the state to continue to support and cooperates with the Amotekun Corps in its efforts at ensuring adequate security of lives and property in  and across the state.
