Seven Feared Dead As Herdsmen, Amotekun Personnel Clash In Oyo State

No fewer than seven persons were feared killed in Okebi and Ayete in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State during a bloody clash between some Fulani herdsmen and men  of the Oyo State Security Network Agency  Operation Amotekun.

It was also learnt that some houses were razed during the bloody clash in the area with many others fleeing the battlefield.

Sources said the bloody clash erupted in the morning when an 80years old Fulani man was reportedly shot dead with his two children at Okebi village by some gunmen.

According to sources in the area, the killing of the 80year old man and his two children degenerated into protests by his kinsmen in the village was said to have spread to Ayete  with some Fulanimen in the area reportedly engaging the Amotekun Personnel.

It was learnt that the bloody clash that rocked the communities left at least seven persons dead with some houses burnt 

Contacted, the Chairman of Miyeti  Allah in Oyo State, Alhaji Ibrahim Jiji confirmed the killing of the 80years old Fulani man and his two children allegedly by the Amotekun Personnel at Okebi village on Saturday morning.

The Oyo State Miyeti Allah Chairman said no Fulanimen attacked any of the Amotekun Personnel that he claimed allegedly invaded the Okebi village and other parts of Ibarapa North Local Government Area, attacking his people.

Alhaji Jiji however, called on Governor Seyi Makinde and the Oyo State Government’ to wade into the matter, inviting those involved and broker peace in the area, saying, ” we know that the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde loves us all, he should wade into the matter and resolve it”

When the DPO of Ayete got wind of the incident, he moved in swiftly to ascertain the cause of the attack. In his report, three persons died and two injured.

He has since commenced investigation and further development will unfold soonest.
