Zamfara State First Lady, Hajia Aisha Bello Matawalle has reiterated her commitment to improving maternal health care delivery services for vulnerable mothers and babies in the rural communities through the ‘Mama Kit initiative’.
A statement by the Press Secretary Office of the First Lady, Zainab Shuaibu Abdullahi said the governor’s wife gave the assurance when she engaged the Legislators Wives Forum in the distributions of Free maternal delivery kit packages to pregnant women in the state.
Speaking at the event which took place at the Zakat and Endowment board Orphans and less privileged hospital in Gusau, Hajia Aisha said the engagement of the legislators wives is aimed at ensuring that no pregnant woman is left behind in getting the maternal delivery kits
Haija Aisha represented by the Special Adviser, Office of the First Lady, Hajia Fatimah Musa Muhammad said the Mama Kit initiative is part of effort to improve the maternal health care delivery services for vulnerable mothers and babies in the rural community.
She said the engagement of the legislators wives is to ensure that the Mama Kit initiative is delivered to vulnerable and less privileged pregnant women in all nooks and crannies of Zamfara State.
“The initiative complements the state governments laudable programmes, under the Ministry of Health in reducing the high indices of Maternal Mortality and Infant morbidity in the state,” she said.
In her remark, the Wife of the Speaker, Zamfara State House of Assembly, Hajia Fatima Nasiru Magarya commended the first lady for ensuring that women at the grassroot forms part of her top priority.
She assures that the forum will work assiduously to targeted beneficiaries receive to the mama kit in all wards in the state.
It will be recalled that the first lady had earlier rounded up the distribution of the Mama kit to all the 14 Local Government councils of the through the Local Government Chairmen Wives Forum.
