The Yobe State Government’ has donated fifteen million Naira to the Council of Nigeria Legion.
Governor Mai Mala Buni has announced the donation shortly after flagging off the 2021 emblem appeal week at the Council Chambers Government’ House Damaturu.
New Nigerian Newspaper reports that the emblem appeal week is an annual event designed to remember the fallen heroes of the country, support the families they left behind and ensure that the welfare of the heroes who are still alive is adequately taken-of.
Against this account, Yobe State government also joined it’s counterparts across the country on the commemoration of the Armed forces remembrance day.
Speaking shortly after decorated by the Chairman Nigerian Legion Yobe State Council, Governor Mai Mala Buni announced the donation of 15 million Naira from the state government and personal donation of five million Naira to the state Council.
The Governor who assured them continued support of the state government, directed the Commissioner Ministry for Land and that of agriculture to come up with suitable land for allocation to the state Council of the legion for farming.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman Nigerian Legion Yobe State Council, Captain Garba Ladin Gadine (retired), commended Yobe State Government’ for its support to the members of the Council.
He called on philanthropists and other individuals in the state to donate generously to the state council for the upkeep of the fallen hero’s families.
