The appointment of Professor Sa’ad Ahmed Chiroma as Director to head the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Abuja has been described as a deserving one by illustrious sons and daughters of Adamawa State.
The commendation eulogies to Sa’ad, one of the youngest Professors of Medical Sciences in the country was done during a dinner party organized by family members and medical associates to honour him.
Lewa Hotel, Yola on Sunday evening was the venue of the event where prominent sons and daughters of Adamawa showered encomiums to Ahmed for making them and the country proud.
Secretary to Adamawa State Government (SSG), Engr Bashir Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor of Modibbo Adama University (MAUTECH), Prof Liman Tukur, Alhaji Aliyu Ahmed Chiroma, former NNPC Director, politicians, Captains of industries and well-wishers extolled Sa’ad for the strides of development he is making in Abuja within few months in office.
In their separate words of advice and commendation, Adamawa State SSG, Bashir said the new MD has to make the organization a system that will carry everyone along.
According to him, delegation with close monitoring will give him the expected results of the dream and vision he has for the Medical Center.
Professor Liman gave him a word of wisdom to love every staff of the organization for maximum work output for they are the ones to make him succeed.
Dr. Bioku O. said Sa’ad’s ingenuity has placed him high above fifty-seven other competitors who jostled for the position, becoming the overall best and within few months of his stay as the MD, turned the hospital to a producer of hand sanitizers and facemasks to help curtail COVID-19 ravaging the nations of the world.
While reading the citation of Prof Ahmed who has baggedMBBS, MPH, Ph.D., (ABU), FMCPath (Nig), FICS, IFCAP (Chicago), MNIM, he said that he has so far in his career authored over 60 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, both local and international and has delivered 50 papers at conferences and seminars and participated in writing numerous commissioned technical and research reports.
“He has supervised over 50 postgraduate students for Fellowship, Ph.D. theses, and Masters Degree dissertations. He has also remained a mentor to many students and young doctors who passed through his tutelage.”
In his response, Sa’ad appreciated the organizers of the event, promising to put in his best to serve the nation.
He said one of his visions of delivering health services to the people in the country using technology is one of the main areas of focus.
