Zamfara State Police Command has confirmed the rescue and release of the students of Government Science Secondary School Kankara, Katsina State who were abducted last Friday in their school by gunmen.
Confirming the rescue and release of the not fewer than 343 students, the Zamfara State Police Commissioner, Barrister Usman Nagogo said the rescue was through sting operation carried out in Zamfara State by security operatives.
Nagogo said the students were released Thursday evening in Tsafe Local Government’ Area of Zamfara State and handed over to officials of Katsina State Government’ for inward transportation to the state capital.
An eye witness said the students are being transported to Katsina State capital under tight security as no chances will be taken to lose them again.
The source added that the rescued students looked dirty and weak but they all seemed to be in good health conditions.
