Declare State Of Emergency Over Insecurity, PDP Tells Buhari

Prince Uche Secondus, PDP National Chairman

National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus has following the deteriorating security situation in the country, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to as a matter of urgency declare the state of emergency.

Prince Uche Secondus who was in Bauchi Wednesday while fielding journalists’ questions said, “If I were President Muhammadu Buhari, I will declare a state of emergency and as quickly as possible change the security architecture of the country.

The PDP Chairman who was in Bauchi to flag-off the construction of some township roads in Bauchi metropolis, stressed the need for those in authority to guarantee the security of lives and properties of Nigerians.

Mr. Secondus, while noting that guaranteeing the security of lives and property of citizens is the best thing for any responsible government, it is the first thing for any government to do, saying “Without guaranteeing security there wouldn’t be any development of any kind.

He queried the press, “Are you not aware that over 300 boys have been kidnapped at a school in Katsina state, you are aware just over a week ago about 100 farmers were killed in Borno state, is Nigeria not in distress, we are in pain, so what else do you want me to describe”.

“The economy is bad, security is bad, virtually every facet of Nigerian life has collapse, what else do you want to hear, you know more than we know, you better let the world know and those in authority, all we are saying, let President Buhari release the Katsina boys for us, we are in pain”, Secondus told the press.

He wondered why the government in 2015 change hands with the claim that those who took over can do better having military experience when the reverse is the case, stressing ‘the situation is the worse than ever before seen in the history of our country.

Price Uche Secondus recalled that before the change of baton, the insecurity problem was in only one geo-political zone of the country, but today it is all over in the six zones of the country, frowning “We cannot continue in this manner, the situation is bad and you know it”.

Secondus commended Governor Bala Mohammed for what he described as massive transformation going on in Bauchi State, “the governor is turning Bauchi not only into tourist destination, but industrial hub for the Northeast, it would be a centre for industrialization and commercial activities”.
