The Adamawa State Police Command has banned the use of fireworks, unauthorized sirens, tinted vehicles and unauthorised covering of vehicles number plates, as the festive season approaches.

This was contained in a statement signed by the command’s spokeperson, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje.

 According to him, the command has put all finishing touches to ensure a hitch free Christmas and new year celebration in the state.

” The command wishes to assure all that this year’s Christmas and new year celebrations, would be conducted peacefully as adequate security measures have been emplaced.

” The command in collaboration with other sister agencies has put in place a robust crime prevention strategies such as visibility policing, foot and vehicular patrols, joint stop and search operations, constant raids on criminal hideouts, traffic decongestion and rapid response among others.

” The use of knockouts, fire crackers , other forms of fireworks, use of covered number plates is capable of misleading the security personnel on apparent danger of gunshots as well as causing fear into the minds of the peace loving citizens.

” The command calls on parents and guardians to warn their children and wards from purchasing and using knockouts as the law governing the sales, purchase and use of fireworks is still in force .

” Finally, the public are enjoined to report any suspicious person or group to the nearest Police stations or via the following police emergency numbers for immediate response” the statement said.
