An Islamic Scholar and Director, Ali Institute for Quar’an Memorization (AIQM), Ibadan, Mallam Ali Temitope Abdussalam on Sunday tasked religious leaders to rise up to the social ills in the society.
Mallam Abdussalam stated this in Ibadan while speaking at the 2nd graduation ceremony (HAFLAH ) of Complete Memorization of the Noble Quar’an held at the institute’s permanent site Olunde.
According to the Islamic Scholar, the time has come for all stakeholders to ensure that Nigerian Youths are not left at the mercy of the society by rising to the task of leading them aright.
“It is no more news that the children are having more distractions from the society than normal. And if we leave them at the mercy of the society, they will go astray as no corrupt society will ever raise good children except hooligans, tyrants armed robbers , cyber crime individuals etc”, he said.
Mallam Abdussalam added, “these kinds of children can neither promote the image of the country well nor that of their parents . Instead, they will tarnish it. May Allah save us all”.
According to him, having observed that what the “Ummah lacks in this generation is not manpower as we already have enough, but spirituality”, the institute then realised that the “only remedy to this menace is to catch the children young before they gain admission into higher Institutions. Else, it may be too late”.
He stressed that since the establishment of Ali Institute for Quar’an Memorization in 2016, “more than 500 students have passed through the Institute to memorise the Quar’an as part time and full time students”.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony,Wife of the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Professor Amdalat Olaniyan charged muslim parents to ensure that their children acquired Islamic education in order to tackle corruption and other social vices in the country.
Professor Olaniyan emphasized that most of the social vices in the country such as corruption and insecurity were as a result of lack of the fear of God arising from the ignorant of religion knowledge, adding that any individuals with the fear of God would not engage in corruption, have the love of the country and would not harm other people in the society .
” Any child that have Islamic upbringing will love his or her parents , the country and would not engage in vices that will tarnish the parents image and the country,” she said.
Chairman of Oyo State Muslim Community, Alhaji Kunle Sanni while speaking lauded Mallam Abdussalam for establishing the centre, as it would mode the moral and spiritual beliefs of the people, adding that inculcating Islamic knowledge in the children would help to eradicate the security crisis in Nigeria and boost the country’s image in the committe of the nations.
