Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel has announced the distribution of 30 utility vehicles to different security organs in the state as part of effort to address the current security challenges.
Governor Emmanuel announced this during the Security Council Meeting at Government House, Uyo on Thursday, attended by all service commanders in the state, which he presided over.
These vehicles, according to the statement signed by the Commmissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Ini Ememobong are the first batch of the 100 vehicles targeted to be delivered to the security agencies for mobility.
The statement also said that the decision taken at the meeting by government to reactivate a Joint Task Force in the state for effective policing.
The Commissioner of Police, Andrew Amiengheme speaking on behalf of the service commanders assured the citizens of maximum protection during the Yuletide and beyond.
Amiengheme urged citizens to call the police emergency numbers or the info hot line when there is an incident, instead of resorting to social media.
Meanwhile, Governor Emmanuel has assented to the state 2021 budget recently passed into law by the State House of Assembly.
The Commissioner of Finance, Mr. Linus Nkan presented the budget as enacted by the Assembly and noted the amendments to the proposal sent from the executive.
He intimated that the new cumulative value of the budget is now 456.2 Billion.
In the same way, an update on the state of secondary education, post-school reopening was received from the Commissioner for Education who assured that effective monitoring was ongoing and will be sustained to ensure punctuality of school attendance by students and regularity of classes by teachers.
