Jigawa State Government’ has assured Persons Living With Disability (PLWDs) across the state to get improved living conditions through the actualization of policy guidelines in achieving the desired objectives.
Governor Mohammed Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State gave the assurance through his representative, Mal. Raba Kaya on the occasion of Legislative Awards organized by members of the joint associations of person’s with disabilities.
Part of the incentives was empowerment opportunities, improved health and education to the wards of the vulnerable, among others.
According to Raba Kaya, with the current development of passing and approved disability bill to a full fledged law and its implementation, they are on course to accord priority to the plight of the vulnerable for improved livelihood.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman, Mal. Usman Mohammed commended Jigawa State Government for its improved policies to better the living conditions of the disabled.
He called for collaborative efforts amongst govt and relevant MDG’s for effective implementation of the disability law.
Also speaking, . Barrister Sadiq Jallo, a member representing Hadejia Constituency on behalf of the awardees, assured members of the PLWDs of State Assembly’s commitment in championing the effective implementations of disability law.
” As people’s representatives, we are duty bound to support the full implementation of all laws that touch people’s lives through the observance of oversight functions”.
During the occasion, two state legislatures, a clerk, and Jigawa State Commissioner of Finance were given awards for the roles they played in supporting the enactment of social protection bill, among other philanthropic gestures towards improving the livelihood of the people with special needs.
Among the personalities honoured, were Hon. Barr. Sadiq Jallo, and his colleague, Hon. Dangyatin representing Miga, the Clerk to Jigawa State House of Assembly, as well as Jigawa State Commissioner of Finance, Alh. Babangida Tukur Gantsa.
