Oyo Police Warns Against Jungle Justice As Mob Sets Robbery Suspect Ablaze In Ibadan

Oyo State Police command on Friday warned against jungle justice in and across the state as angry mob set ablaze a suspected armed robber in Ibadan.
The state Police Commissioner, CP Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu in a statement issued on his behalf by the Command’s Public Relations Officer SP Gbenga Fadeyi frowned at the rising case of jungle justice on suspects in Oyo State.
CP Enwonwu maintained that the time has come for an end to the ugly development especially from the Okada riders and other groups in the state.
“This act of jungle justice which has been common lately was condemned in its totality among Okada riders and any other groups by the Commissioner of Police, CP. Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu and should be viewed with all seriousness, hence situation will degenerate beyond control”, he said
CP Enwonwu added that  “suspect(s) are supposed to be handed over to the Police for investigation and prosecution to allow dignity in our society”.

Earlier in the day, at two armed robbers were said to have  at about 0730 hrs robbed an Okada rider of his TVS motorcycle at Olomi area of Ibadan and took to their heels. 
The two robbers were reported to have ran out of luck when they were cut up by other riders who were on their trail at 110 roundabout area of Odo-Ona Ibadan, descended on them with one of the suspects escaping while the other was beaten to stupor and set ablaze.ENDS.
