Kano Electric Raises Alarm Over Increasing Activities Of Vandals In Franchise States



Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has raised alarm over increasing activities of vandals in its  franchise areas   of Katsina, Kano and Jigawa States. 

A statement by the Company’s head of Corporate Communications, Alhaji Ibrahim Sani Shawai commended communities in the areas for preventing vandalism. Alhaji Sani Shawai explained that,   increasing activities of vandals in the coverage areas of the company was highly disturbing as  transformers and other installations have been destroyed by vandals in recent times and this has put many communities in darkness. 

According to him, the impact of vandalism is something that affects both KEDCO and its numerous customers while causing economic losses of grave magnitude in some cases.  Some communities,he noted have shown great concern through protecting and preventing any attempts to sabotage the Company’s installations while some Communities have not been very helpful.   

Recently, Alhaji Sani Shawai said   Danbare Community of Kumbotso local government area of Kano State have succeeded in chasing away vandals and detained their vehicle while vandalizing a  transformer. the case was now under security investigation      

” This Community action is  highly commendable, we urge other communities to emulate.” assuring customers that KEDCO’s Monitoring Unit has been given matching orders to embark on surveillance and anyone caught would be prosecuted in accordance with the laws of the land.

 “We are appealing to members of the public to stand up against vandalism by supporting KEDCO to protect the organisation while safeguarding its installations to ensure that customers get value for their money,” Alhaji Ibrahim Sani Shawai emphasized.
