A Christian missionary group under the aegis of Odumuhaje Christian Medical Mission (OCMM) in partnership with Raymond Akor’s Memorial Foundation has embarked on a week long free medical consultation, counselling and outreach at Agaliga_ Imane community in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State, Nigeria.
The two Non- Governmental Organizations (NGOs) based in both Benue and Kogi states, have a mission of complimenting government effort by initiating development via free medical services and provisions of healthcare facilities to the less privileged individuals and communities.
Declaring the timely event open at the Akaliga Primary School, Chief Executive Officer of Raymond Akor Memorial Foundation (RAMF) Mrs. Helen Akor explained that the joint outreach was part of efforts to mark the one year anniversary of the late Raymond Akor and the founder, who’s death left the mission of the foundation unaccomplished.
According to Helen Akor, the free medical outreach which covers surgeries, medical consultation, counselling and drugs administration was one out of the many visions of the foundation such as vocational and skills acquisition, building of schools and hospitals and provision of portable drinking water for the communities where such amenities are lacking.
The Medical Team for the outreach, she pointed out, comprises different medical personnels ranging from foctors, laboratory scientists, child physicians, nurses, pharmacists and senior community health workers, were carefully selected from different medical centres across the country to render humanitarian services and also deliver on their corporate social responsibilities.
In a remark, Founder of Odumuhaje Christian Medical Mission, and team lead for the outreach, Dr. Paul Audu Odumu said the outreach which is targeted at reaching out to a minimum of two thousand patients with different ailments would help address the health needs of the community
Odumu who is the head Consultant Family Physician from the 44 Army Hospital Kaduna, commended the medical team for their doggedness and charged them to work as a team with a view to achieving the set objectives while acknowledging that God is the ultimate healer.
