Okada Rider, One Other Killed In Ibadan Correctional Service Men, Motorcyclists Clash

By; BAYO AKAMO, Ibadan

It was pandemonium galore at the Agodi Gate area of Ibadan on Tuesday when an Okada rider and one other met their untimely death during  a clash between men of the Nigeria Correctional  Service and Commercial motorcyclists
New Nigerian learnt that the bloody clash erupted over controversy from the Okada parking space reportedly created by the Commercial motorcyclists said to be few metres away from the Agodi Correctional Service yard at Agodi.
Sources in the area said  trouble started when one of the correctional service men reportedly mandated the Okada riders at the park to vacate the place with the Okada riders reportedly insisting that they were not in any way obstructing movement into and out of the Agodi Correctional centre.
Sensing that the Correctional Service men were up to a hidden agenda,  the motorcyclists vowed not to vacate the park, with the situation degenerating into confusion and a free for all during which one of the motorcyclists identified as Alfa was reportedly shot dead
The death  one of the Okadaman aggravated the tension in the area as other motorcyclists in and across Agodi Gate mobilised for counter attacks on the Correctional Service men with the officers shooting sporadically into the air while escaping from the barea.
Our correspondent gathered that it was during the sporadic shootings that the second victim was reportedly hit by one of the bullets from the gunshots
However, the Oyo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Gbenga Fadeyi in a statement on the clash dissociated men of the state Police Command from the clash , saying, ” the clash was between officers of the correctional service and bike men stationed at Agodi gate, area of Ibadan”. “Contrary to the currently trending news online, that police men fired shots leading to injury at Agodi gate area this morning , the truth is that there was a clash between officers of the correctional service and bike men stationed at Agodi gate”, he said.
The PPRO noted   “,upon receipt of this information, police men as well as other security agencies moved to the scene to ensure there’s no break down of law and order that could lead to coordinated attack on the prison facility. POLICE MEN FIRED NO SHOT. further development will unfold  and be communicated latter” .
