Ogun: Abiodun Calls On Stakeholders To Collaborate With His Govt For Prosperous Future

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has called on all relevant stakeholders to continue to cooperate and collaborate with his administration towards building a more prosperous future of Ogun State.

Governor Abiodun made the call in his address at the Treasury Board Meeting On 2021 Budget held on Monday at the Oba’s Complex, Okemosan, Abeokuta.

According to Abiodun, the desire and approach to accelerating the pace of the socio-economic development in a State depend on key economic decisions made, not only by the government, but by all stakeholders affected by such decisions therefore, they must all cooperate to achieve a desired success.

“At this meeting, therefore, you are expected to present the programmes and projects which your respective MDAs intend to execute in order to achieve the Building Our Future Together Agenda that rests on I.S.E.Y.A pillars.

” For the coming Year 2021, we all have responsibilities to ensure a more robust fiscal Year that will sustain our policy and programmes towards the successful implementation of “Building our Future Together” Agenda Prince Abiodun stressed

He stressed further that,  economic planning explains the control and direction of the economy adopted by the government to exercise its efforts saying that, that is why in the  other hand, achieving the targets and objectives of the economic planning is largely dependent on the functionality of the government’s machinery, and those who manage the economy on behalf of the government.

“All this informs the deliberate and calculated approach our Administration has adopted in preparation of a functional annual budget for Ogun State since 2019.

“There is an increased expectation of the public that the government becomes more innovative by devising new approaches for the fulfilment of the policies and programmes. The new normal demands more prudent management and innovative thinking for the implementation of policies and programmes of the government.

“Therefore, the Public Service, in its important role in the implementation of government’s policies and programmes, must not only be dynamic and abreast with the Government’s expectations of meeting the increasing public needs, but be prudent and innovative in its approaches.

“No doubt, the input of relevant stakeholders especially the Public Service is one critical element for the continued successful implementation of the 2020 budget of our dear State. And, as core machinery of government, the Ogun Public Service has continued in its important role as an operator of the budget in the outgoing fiscal year. This is highly commendable” the Governor stressed.

He therefore used the occasion  to thank all the Public Servants of the  State for the effective, efficient and successful implementation of the outgoing year’s Budget, both in terms of actual performance and the realization of many of the government’s policy objectives.

“You all have continued to show that you are proud inheritors of excellence that the Ogun State Public Service is known for.” Abiodun said.

“You will all recall that the process of the preparation of the Year 2021 Budget was kick-started with Sensitization Programme with Stakeholders in the various sectors of the economy on the Vision and Focus of the State Government.

“This was followed by the Virtual Town Hall Meetings held in the three Senatorial Districts of our dear State starting from Ogun East Senatorial District on Monday, 2nd November, 2020; Ogun West Senatorial District, on Wednesday, 4th November, 2020; and to, Ogun Central Senatorial District, on Thursday, 5th November, 2020, respectively.

“”The recommendations, comments and contributions of our people are new eye openers to many issues bothering on the continued development of our dear State.

“All these have been acknowledged and accommodated in the consideration of putting up a functional and people-oriented budget. Subsequent to the town hall meetings, we also set up committees of our traditional rulers, community development associations and other stakeholders to identify and prioritise roads in their respective communities for government attention.

“Their reports, which we have received, will also serve as guide in the choice of roads for rehabilitation / reconstruction within the available resources. Again, we thank our traditional rulers and other stakeholders for their cooperation and support at all times.

The hosting of this Treasury Board meeting will serve as an avenue for our Administration to receive further contributions from members of the Public Service considering that the sector is an integral part of government’s machinery that cannot be underestimated in any developmental process.

“Indeed, public servants’ useful contributions in this regard will not only ensure the successful implementation of our Administration Agenda but will largely contribute to achieving consistent service delivery. It is also a platform through which we cross-fertilize ideas towards attaining the optimal growth and continued development that the good people of Ogun State crave and deserve.

“Our objective remains to obtain input from the operators of the Budget in a manner that ensures transparency and accountability”Governor Abiodun stated.
