The Centre For Iniatiative and Delopment (CFID), a non governmental organization on Friday commenced community hepatitis elimination programme for people of the state.
This was part of the inauguration ceremony of its new Secretariat and diagonistic centre in Jalingo.
Mr Danjuma Adda, the Executive Director of CFID noted at the ocassion that the dream of the organization was to ensure that everybody has access to quality and affordable screening and treatment of hepatitis.
Adda, who is the newly elected President of World Hepatitis Alliance said CFID in partnership with some pharmcitical organizations would offer services at 50 per cent discount and free services for indigent patients.
“Today is a historic day for us as an NGO has we inaugurating a diagonistic Centre, an office complex and flagging off the community hepatitis elimination programme.
“CFID has purchased modern equipment for speedy screening and treatment of hepatitis and other liver problems for a healthy society,” he said.
While remembering his late mother who died of hepatitis in 2007, Adda noted that nobody whether rich or poor should die of the diseases due to lack of access to quality care again.
He pledged to use his new position as president, world hepatitis alliance to enhance the fight against the menance in Nigeria.
Alhaji Abdulnaseer Boboji, the Chairman of Jalingo Local Government Council in a good will message commended the CIFD for making quality health care services accessable and affordable for the people of the state and Nigeria.
The event which featured free screening and treatment of 20 patients was attended by traditional rulers, religious leaders, women groups, NGO representatives with strict observance with the COVID -19.
